Awards and Grants


AF ChemPharm has been the recipient of a number of awards and grants since we began in 1998. A edited selection of these awards are listed below, including the funding bodies and a brief description of the projects.



Marie Curie Industry-Academia Partnerships and Pathways (IAPP)

    (ongoing)

  • Funding for a collaborative project in association with the Marie Curie Laboratory for Membrane Proteins (National University of Ireland, Maynooth), and Dualsystems Biotech (Schlieren, Switzerland). The project is focussed on the investigation of the structure, function and interactions of the receptor for Retinol Binding Protein, with special note of its role in disease states.


Technology Strategy Board (TSB)

    (ongoing)

  • A Knowledge Transfer Partnership in collaboration with Dr Beining Chen at the University of Sheffield, using multiple approaches to investigate novel antibiotic pharmacaphores and drugs.


Small firms' Merit Award for Research and Technology (SMART)

    (1998)

  • This was a merit-based award for regional new businesses, which we have been awarded on separate occasions for different projects


Grant for Business Investment (GBI)

    (1998)

  • Government start-up funding for new business in the UK
